Christopher Deery

Christopher has been a Senior Financial Investigator with Independence Blue Cross (IBC) since 2005.  He is also the President of the IBC Veteran Associate Resource Group, the I-Vets.  Prior to joining IBC, Chris served as a Captain in the United States Army.  His last assignment on Active Duty was serving as Director of the Officer Proponency Division for the Office of the Chief of Transportation.  Chris’ previous assignments included serving as a Platoon Leader, Executive Officer and acting Commander for the 89th Transportation Company, Fort Eustis, VA, as well as a Battalion Training and Intelligence Officer for the 6th Transportation Battalion, Fort Eustis, VA.  Chris received the Bronze Star during his deployment to Kuwait and Iraq in 2003 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom.  He is a graduate of Lehigh University (B.S. Accounting, 2001) and Drexel University (M.B.A., 2008).  Chris is an active member in the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America.  He lives in Audubon, NJ with his wife, Danielle, and his son, Patrick.    

Marcia Shippey

Marcia is the Senior Manager of Property Tax at Comcast Corporation where she manages the national property tax compliance function.  She is also the Lead for the Veterans Network at Comcast Affinity Group which has over 200 employee members.  Marcia has 14 years of experience in property tax compliance and valuation for various industries such as cable, energy, manufacturing and telecom. Prior to joining Comcast, Marcia was a Property Tax Manager with Thomson Reuters and Deloitte. She received her BBA in Real Estate and Masters of Taxation from Florida Atlantic University and her MBA from Keller Graduate School of Management.  She is a member of the Institute of Professionals in Taxation (IPT) and a Certified Member of the Institute (CMI). She is currently serving on the Boards of two nonprofit organizations that support military veterans, Operation Homefront of Pennsylvania and Delaware and The Veterans Group.

Tom Karinshak

Tom serves as Senior Vice President of the Customer Experience for Comcast Cable. In this role, he and his team work cross functionally with the Company's care, technical operations, marketing and new product development and deployment teams to ensure a superior experience at every point in Comcast's relationship with its customers.


Before joining Comcast in November 2010, Mr. Karinshak served as Managing Director and Customer Experience Director for Barclay's Bank of Delaware, where he designed and built a top talent customer experience, marketing, and operations organization. Prior to Barclays, Mr. Karinshak was at AOL, where he held a variety of senior leadership roles across marketing and operations.


Mr. Karinshak has 20 years of leadership experience with multi-service providers and leading consumer brands. He also served on active duty with the U.S. Army for six years as a Combat Engineer Captain.


Mr. Karinshak holds a B.S. in Civil Engineering from the United States Military Academy at West Point and an M.S. in Engineering Management from the Missouri University of Science and Technology.

April Thomas Jones

April has a  Master’s degree in Education and a B.A. in Public Relations, Advertising and Journalism. Her career started out in inner city schools teaching youth of various ranges. She then moved to becoming a lead teacher at a charter school which involved writing curriculum and developing enriching programs. As her career progressed so did my interest and talents. April’s experience writing curriculum and developing successful programs lead her to become a director of a small non-profit Christian school in which program development, fiscal management, retention, management, among the many other job duties became my common place. She then moved into the Assistant Director of Youth development position at the University of Pennsylvania. This position was through Penn’s Non-Profit Netter Center and yet another place that honed her non-profit skills of Daily Operations Management, Fiscal Management and Program development to name a few. April’s position at Penn lead her to her current position as the Executive Director of the Old Pine Community Center, where she have been for the past 5 years. The OPCC is a non profit organization that provides programs and services that enrich the lives of other such as our homeless, adult education and Saturday for Senior Programs.


Since 2007 April has higher education as an adjunct instructor at the Pennsylvania Institute of Technology as well as an “on ground” instructor at the University of Phoenix.


April has served on The South Street Head House district Board and is currently Chair of her borough’s Zoning Board.

Michael Flott

Michael Flott has been married for over 36 years, is the father of 5 children and has two grandchildren. Michael’s two oldest sons served in the USAA. He worked as an accountant for eight years in Washington and 29 years as a sales professional in the printing and graphic arts communication industry in the Philadelphia area. He retired from his sales position in December of 2010 to develop the “I CAN DADS” Coaching program to encourage men and their children to build healthy relationships and repair broken ones. He was a volunteer coach of soccer, basketball and baseball for over 20 years in the Phoenixville area. He was a volunteer board member of the Phoenixville Area YMCA from 1990 to 1998, a volunteer branch board member of the Freedom Valley YMCA from 2006 to 2011 and currently is a volunteer Chaplain for the Philadelphia Freedom Valley YMCAs. He also has served as a volunteer board member of the PYBRL and  the Pottstown Chapter of PIAA Basketball Officials.
